UNY History Education Study Program Develops New Curriculum, Responding to Global Dynamics

Yogyakarta, April 15, 2025 — The History Education Study Program at Yogyakarta State University (UNY) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on curriculum development on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The event, which took place in the Lafran Pane Room, Faculty of Social, Law, and Political Sciences (FISHIPOL) UNY, was attended by various stakeholders, including alumni, representatives of the History Subject Teacher Working Group (MGMP), graduate users, and lecturers from the UNY History Education Study Program.

 

This FGD is part of ongoing efforts to align the curriculum with the needs of the world of work, the dynamics of historical science, and developments in technology and education in the 21st century. The discussion was lively and productive, presenting a variety of complementary views to refine a curriculum that is more adaptive and responsive to the challenges of the times.

 

The Head of the History Education Study Program at UNY, Dr. Risky Setiawan, M.Pd., said in his speech that curriculum revision is a strategic necessity in order to improve the quality of graduates. According to him, the involvement of alumni and external partners such as MGMP and graduate employers is very important to ensure that the curriculum developed is truly relevant and applicable.

 

This activity also serves as a reflective moment for the History Education Study Program to evaluate the curriculum that has been used so far and prepare the curriculum document to be submitted for implementation in the 2025-2030 academic year. (sars)
