Yogyakarta, May 22, 2025 – The History Education Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Yogyakarta State University (FISIP UNY) held an “Alumni Back to Campus” event on Thursday, May 22, 2025. Held on the 4th floor of the ISDB FISIP UNY Building, this event featured two inspiring alumni: Arief Setyadi, a content creator with an educational account called “Kampung Halamanku” (My Hometown), and Winda Prastyaning Adhi, founder of the eco-print business Sengsem Craft.
This event served as a gathering and source of inspiration for current students to understand the career potential of History Education graduates in various fields. Opened with a speech from the Dean of FISIP UNY, Dr. Rhoma Dwi Aria Yuliantri, M.Pd, the event emphasized the importance of maintaining relationships between alumni and their alma mater and exploring various opportunities outside of formal education.
In the first session, Arief Setyadi shared his experience in starting the “Kampung Halamanku” account, which focuses on content about simple everyday life. He recounted his creative journey from being a history student to becoming a content creator with millions of loyal followers who enjoy his educational content.
“I want to prove that history does not always have to be taught in the classroom. Through social media, I can convey historical values in a light and interesting way,” said Arief, to the enthusiasm of the participants.
Meanwhile, Winda Prastyaning Adhi presented an entrepreneurial perspective based on local wisdom through eco printing. In her presentation, Winda explained how she combined her love of culture and nature with entrepreneurial skills to establish Sengsem Craft, a business that produces fabrics with natural motifs from local plants.
“Through eco-printing, I strive to introduce aesthetic value and environmental sustainability. It all began with the cultural history lessons I learned in college,” said Winda.
The event concluded with an active discussion and Q&A session. The students were enthusiastic about exploring the success tips of both alumni, both in the digital field and creative entrepreneurship.
“Alumni Back to Campus” serves as tangible proof that History Education graduates have broad opportunities across various professional fields. They are not only teachers or academics but also creators, entrepreneurs, and agents of change in society. (sars)
