UNY Conducts Community Service with MGMP IPS SMP throughout Bantul Regency
Bantul, October 3, 2025 – The lecturer team of the History Education Study Program, FISHIPOL, Yogyakarta State University (UNY), held a Community Service activity themed “Training and Assistance for Social Studies Teachers in Developing Digital Teaching Materials.” This activity was carried out in collaboration with the Social Studies Subject Teacher Working Group (MGMP) of junior high schools in Bantul Regency.
The activity, which took place on Friday, October 3, 2025, aimed to improve the competence of social studies teachers in developing innovative, interactive, and 21st-century learning-oriented digital teaching materials. Through this training, teachers are expected to be able to utilize digital technology in developing attractive teaching materials that support a more effective learning process.
In his speech, a representative of the Bantul Social Studies MGMP expressed his appreciation to UNY for its consistent and tangible contributions to improving teacher professionalism. “This collaboration is very important to strengthen the capacity of social studies teachers in facing the challenges of digital learning,” he said.
The activity was led by Prof. Dr. Aman, M.Pd. and Dr. Drs. Muhamad Nur Rohkman, M.Pd. as the lecturer team. Prof. Aman emphasized the importance of social studies teachers adapting to developments in educational technology. "Teachers are the main agents of change in the world of education. Through this training, we want to equip teachers with digital teaching material development skills so that social studies learning becomes more relevant, creative, and in line with the needs of the current generation," he explained.
Meanwhile, Dr. Muhamad Nur Rohkman added that this assistance was not limited to technical training but also encouraged teachers to utilize technology more broadly. “The hope is that teachers will not only be proficient in creating digital media but also be able to integrate it into the learning process so as to create a meaningful learning experience for students,” he said.
This community service activity is a concrete manifestation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education) carried out by UNY, particularly the History Education Study Program. Through synergy between higher education institutions and MGMP, it is hoped that the quality of social studies learning at the junior high school level will improve, while also expanding teachers' access to digital learning innovations.
